Importing

Importing countries have confidence in the health and quality of Australian animals as well as the regulation and certification of the industry and consistent supply of quality sheep for meat. For countries where climate and geographical conditions limit the ability to sustain their own breeding flocks, importing sheep is a vital part of their protein consumption and food security.

Exports

Our export industry is highly regulated and sets a global benchmark in the preparation and transportation of sheep. Our vets and qualified shipboard stockpersons accompany our animals on the journey. During the voyage the animals are constantly monitored for health and welfare and detailed records kept and provided to the Australian government. The vessels are licenced by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority and are certified to carry sheep.

Transport

Australia’s sheep farms are often both large and remote, so transport is required overland to saleyards, feedlots and other sale hubs. Australia’s trucking industry is one of the most highly regulated in the world and our drivers often come from farming backgrounds - so have a lifetime of experience handling and looking after our animals.

Our drivers are a critical component to The Sheep Collective. They ensure the health and welfare of our sheep and take the responsibility of ensuring animals’ safe arrival to their destination seriously.

Feedlot

Feedlots for export purposes operate as a quarantine site to ensure the health of sheep for transport and to insure our trading partners a level of assurance.

Planning and preparation is key for the The Sheep Collective. Feedlots allow multiple individual inspections by veterinarians and constant observations by trained stock people. During their time in the feedlot sheep will be segregated into like with like groups based on breed, weight, age and sex. This allows careful planning for their next transport journey on the sheep vessel.

Farm

Farmers spend their entire lives dedicated to breeding and raising happy and contented animals which forms the cornerstone of The Sheep Collective. In Western Australia, indeed, across Australia, our farms are often passed from generation to generation, leaving a legacy that is not just a livelihood but a love, a knowledge and a deep understanding of the land and animals.

Our dedication has bred strong lines of sheep, renowned for producing excellent quality meat and wool.
